Classe MINI 6.50– Small. Fast. Unstoppable.
The Classe MINI 6.50 stands for pure offshore feeling in just 6.50 metres. No comfort, no retreat – it couldn't be more extreme. This class is considered the training ground for offshore sailing and demands maximum effort from everyone who takes part.
Career start at 6.50 metres
For Melwin Fink and Lennart Burke, the Classe MINI 6.50 was their introduction to the world of ocean sailing. With impressive performances, especially in the demanding MINI Transat, they laid the foundation for their current careers. Courageous, focused and always pushing the limits.

Approximately 90 m² of sail area.
Almost as large as a tennis court.

The mast measures around 12 metres: as high as a four-storey residential building.
Hull weight alone:
approximately 900 kilograms
Less than a Smart car, yet a fully-fledged ocean-going boat.
6.50 metres long and over 3 metres wide, as compact yet stable as a VW bus on water.
Speeds of over 20 knots, which corresponds to around 37 kilometres per hour. And that solely with wind power.
Sailing is done completely alone: navigation, trimming, sleeping, repairs. All in a very confined space.

Next Generation MINI 6.50
Now Tom Whede is taking over the helm as the next generation. With the new Osterrath MINI, an exciting project is in the starting blocks – innovative, fast and with a clear goal: MINI Transat 2027.
Tom Whede prevailed against numerous candidates in the application process – with skill, passion and his authentic manner. Thanks to Osterrath GmbH & Co. KG, which took on the sponsorship on the occasion of its 175th anniversary – and whose boss is himself an enthusiastic sailor – Tom now has the chance to live his dream.
He has already sailed his first regattas, learned a great deal and is continuing to develop. We are proud to accompany him on this journey – together with such a strong partner as Osterrath at our side.
